First up today is Bonnie of Stufd!

1. What do you make/sell?

I make monsters! Majority are made from new socks, as well as a few from sweaters, or upcycled shirts.

2. Why do you make/sell it? What inspires your work?

The reactions from people when they give a monster a little squeeze is so awesome, I love the “monster love”. People in general are inspiring. Each and every one of us is different, and our character what makes us interesting! Just like monsters.

3. Is there anything you’d like to tell others about what you do?

I only use new socks, I get a lot of offers for free used socks, but I always decline gracefully 🙂 I continually work towards making them unique and one of a kind. Always on the lookout for new socks and supplies, I try not to duplicate.

Next we have Jennea of Jennea Frischke Jewelry and Birds Eye Vintage.

1. What do you make/sell?

I design and make jewelry using traditional metalsmithing techniques. I create a broad range of jewelry items including rings, cuffs, necklaces, and earrings using a diverse range of techniques, metals, vintage components, and alternative materials.

2. Why do you make/sell it? What inspires your work?

I love creating pieces for adornment, and have been creating since a very young age. I started my first jewelry business when I was 13 (a friendship bracelet company called Forget me Knots) and went to art school out of high school. I graduated from the Jewellery and Metals program at the Alberta College of Art and Design in 2006 and I have been creating wearable art ever since. Creating/making is a very important part of who I am, and I am so fortunate to get to do what I am passionate about as a living and share my work. I love experimenting with new techniques, and love seeing where my process takes me. My work is also inspired by historical jewelry, vintage, nature, dreams, and my surroundings. I am a vintage seller as well (Birdseye Vintage), and curate my vintage collection from trips taken within the Prairies. These trips are also a great inspiration for me.

3. Is there anything you’d like to tell others about what you do?

As well as creating lines of jewelry, I also love creating custom work. Please feel free to contact me if you have an idea for a custom piece of jewelry for yourself, or as a gift.
Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting lots of new ones at the upcoming Etsy Market.

Next we have Kristin of Harper’s Hats.

1. What do you make/sell?

Hand-made crocheted hats inspired by my little ones and made for you and your little ones! You will find beautiful hats, headbands and scarves to keep you stylish and cozy throughout the chilly seasons! My two favourite materials are chunky yarns and coconut buttons. If you already crochet, make your own by purchasing one of my original design patterns.

2. Why do you make/sell it? What inspires your work?

My son Harper was my inspiration to start selling newborn baby hats but my business has grown so much since then. Now I have two sons and I am constantly inspired by them and my love for fashion. Living in a Canadian city so close to the Rocky Mountains gives me more than enough inspiration for keeping my family warm eight months of the year. 🙂

3. Is there anything you’d like to tell others about what you do?

I am a one woman show. I design, create, crochet, model, photograph and market everything in my shop by myself!

Finally for today we have Carmen of Twisted Links Jewelry.

1. What do you make/sell?

I make chainmaille jewelry, and dabble in a few other jewelry techniques, including wire weaving, bead weaving, wire and beads and polymer clay.

2. Why do you make/sell it? What inspires your work?

I started making it because the techniques of weaving rings together to make beautiful patterns were fascinating to me. The simple beauty of the materials, metal and stone, still captures my imagination. The end result is truly lovely jewelry. Eventually I made so many pieces that I thought I should sell some of them to at least offset the cost of materials and tools, and make a bit of money for the holidays, so I started doing Christmas craft sales. As my skills grew, I found I wanted a new outlet for my favorite pieces and my Etsy shop gives me that outlet. I love that people all over the world wear and love the pieces I make.

3. Is there anything you’d like to tell others about what you do?

I have two autistic children, so my life is hectic and I use my craft to help me stay calm and focused. Since I am a stay at home parent for the foreseeable future, the income from my jewelry is my contribution to the household finances. I find the pursuit of my art to be a kind of meditation, and I find time to maille whenever I can.
